Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about the exciting opportunities with the Black Clergywomen of the United Methodist Church.

In 2006, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Women receiving full rights as clergy.  In 2008, we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the creation of Black Methodist for Church Renewal (BMCR) and the end of the Central Jurisdiction.  Black clergywomen have been on a long journey working towards ending systemic racial segregation in the United Methodist Church.  Although we celebrate the progress it has not been without a struggle.  Currently, The Black Clergywomen play a vital role in advocating for the end of injustice and discrimination against women of color in the world and church.   We also seek to empower and support women for leadership, mission and ministry.

We invite you to join us at our Annual Meeting this September 5th – 7th 2011 in Nashville, TN.  Our theme is “Restoring the Joy, Leading the Church and Transforming the World.”   We are grateful for the support of Dr. HiRho Park and the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in its ongoing affirmation of the work of Black Clergywomen within the United Methodist Church.  I count it a privilege to serve as the President of these great women.  I have learned in my leadership journey that “nothing is impossible with Christ."  We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Ouida Lee
